How do you make a really good butter cream icing?

I'd really like a homemade one that works really well. I have tried many from internet recipe sites. I'd really like it soon i need it for the icing on the cake for my parent's anniversary. PLEASE LEAVE SOMETHING!!How do you make a really good butter cream icing?
This is my recipe for butter cream icing. It took me a year to get right.

1 stick butter

1/2 cup shortening

1 tablespoon clear vanilla flavor (seems like alot i know but is good)

1 teaspoon clear butter flavor

1/2 teaspoon clear almond flavor

1 teaspoon milk

1 pound powdered sugar

Cream butter and shortening. Add all flavors and milk. Beat until there are no more chunks of shortening, about 2 minutes. Add powdered sugar 1 cup at a time mixing on medium slow. You may need to add more milk or even less depending on how thick or thin you like it. This is enough to frost one 8-9 inch cake, or 24 cupcakes.

I so hope you like this recipe. My family just goes crazy over it.How do you make a really good butter cream icing?
This is the one I use all the time

1 cup real butter, softened

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

4 cups confectioners' sugar

2 tablespoons milk

You can add a bar of cream cheese if you want, If you do reduce butter to 1/2 cup

DIRECTIONS

In a large bowl, cream together the butter, and vanilla. Blend in the sugar, one cup at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in the milk, and continue mixing until light and fluffy. Keep icing covered until ready to decorate

The key to a creamy icing is to cream the butter and vanilla until fluffy before you add sugar and milk
i use this recipe all the time

100g soft butter

100g caster sugar

2 eggs

100g self-raising flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

Beat the lot together with a handwhisk until pale and airy
This is a good recipe.
