How does one make ice-cream if the recipe says use an ice-cream maker but i dont have one?

You MIGHT be able to get away with putting ingredients into a sealable container and alternating freezing and shaking or stirring, I would say every 10-15 minutes. Pour into shallow pan. Freeze til frozen; about 2-4 hours.
