I don't have time to go the store, it's an hour away. I have honey, milk, baking soda, etc. I heard you can mix it with honey or something, anything acidic. Any ideas?How can I make baking powder without cream of tartar?
For each 1 teaspoon baking powder called for in a recipe, use:
1/4 teaspoon baking soda plus 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar;
OR
1/4 teaspoon baking soda plus 1/2 cup buttermilk, sour cream or yogurt (to replace 1/2 cup liquid called for in recipe).How can I make baking powder without cream of tartar?
baking powder just needs water to react, baking soda needs water and an acid. I've never tried it but you should be able to use your baking soda and add an acid to the recipe.
You can't make it w/o crm of tartar... it's down the the bare bones, and you've GOT to have some basics.
